Resisting the Obama regime honorably, and thriving despite it

NRD Poll: Boston Bomber – Rhodie or Not? ;)

What do you think?

It seems FreeFor may be in the clear on this one.  I am very glad about that.  Happy Hunting to all LEOs in Boston, although it would be useful to capture the one still at large alive, (perhaps) to learn just how easy it was for him to get a student visa?

Have a good and safe day, readers.

Worried. About. Boston.

Statue_in_Minute_Man_National_Historical_Park-1024x768

Most of the day today I worried about whether the Boston event was domestic terrorism. “Who did it?” won’t bring a child and a young woman back to life, or reattach legs. But it still feels like it matters who did it, doesn’t it?

Rawles has just posted his opinion that it’s domestic. If it’s domestic, it could be OWS, Earth First, or other assorted nihilists or leftists. Or it could be, tragically, some really, really, really crazy far right group. Or it could be a false flag. Or Arabs. Right now, we just don’t know. We may never know, either because the government doesn’t know, or because the government covers up or manipulates the truth.

I think the American Resistance needs to at least run the intellectual exercise of preparing for the Boston terrorists to be domestic crazy-far-right-wing people, either in reality, or in the crosshairs of the Regime/Media propaganda machine.

That is going to put Rhodies and virtually all readers of this blog who aren’t linked here by the Media Directorate (like that will ever happen) or who don’t work in a NSA/DHS Fusion Center in the position of being the “reasonable Muslims” after September 11. I’m (obviously) not Muslim, but I can imagine that would have been a severely uncomfortable place to be.

Within hours, it could be our position. Read the rest of this entry »

Pray for Boston

800px-Bunker_Hill_Flag_svg copy

I am very, very upset by what happened in Boston today.  I am so sad for the hurt children and the casualties and the athletes and the city. It’s an old American city with a strong American heart. The Minutemen fought around and in Boston.

Many people of modern dispositions can’t get their minds around just how evil people can be.

Rhodies have an older, Burkean sensibility so to us, what happened today is a horror and cowardice and a tragedy, but not a surprise. For that reason, it falls to us all the more to be defenders of our communities, and of what’s enduring in the American Nation.

God Bless You, Rhodies, and keep you and your children and your homes and communities safe.  Tonight John deWitt prays for Boston, and hopes you will too.

God Bless You, Iron Lady

Your problems will be our problems and when you look for friends we shall be there.”

There is a union of mind and purpose between our peoples which is remarkable and which makes our relationship a truly remarkable one. It is special. It just is, and that’s that.

The Rhodie Remnant has lost a friend and a shining example. This is a grateful John deWitt saying thank you from the American Resistance.  You continue to inspire us.  To all the American Rhodies out there, God Bless, and good night.

The Regime Wants Your Property and Your Heart, but God Wins

cross1Sometimes I think the Left really lacks self-awareness of how the news they control presents to people who don’t support them. The headlines in the last ten days have been dominated by two things: Cypriot capital controls, and homosexual marriage before the Supreme Court. The Media Directorate might actually think these things are about, respectively, orderly stabilization of the Eurozone and the heroic advance of Freedom. That’s not what they look like to Rhodies.

The big-picture narrative of Cypriot capital controls the Media Directorate isn’t telling you very clearly is this:

- The Euro as a common currency is the idée fixe of the European left’s supranational socialist dream.

- If a nation leaves the Euro, the Dream Will Die (notwithstanding Edward Kennedy’s 1980 Democratic National Convention Speech).

- If a nation’s banking sector implodes, it will have to leave the Euro.

- The only way to prevent total banking sector implosion in Cyprus is a combination of bailouts, capital controls, and asset confiscation.

- If shutting down the free flow of goods, services, and capital and taking private property is required to prop up the Big Government Dream, Europe’s Big Government says: so be it, we’ll do what we have to do.

The big-picture narrative of homosexual marriage before the Supreme Court this Holy Week that the Media Directorate isn’t telling you at all is this: Read the rest of this entry »

The Lessons of Cyprus: NRD’s Asset Seizure Risk Cube

ASR Cube

NRD has been quiet since Cyprus broke over the weekend, when we were outraged at the news, but that does -not- mean we haven’t been following it very closely – very much to the contrary. It’s a fluid situation so we won’t rehash it, except to commend the inspired tirade against the blatant ECB/Socialist heist by Lars Seier Christensen here.

If the Cyprus episode promised to be isolated, we wouldn’t worry about it. But it’s not going to be isolated. It is a reconnaissance in force by the global socialist allies of the Regime for the next phase in the collectivist agenda: moving beyond mere income taxation (against which going Galt is a defense) to outright asset confiscation.

In navigational terms, what’s terrifying here isn’t so much the Regime’s heading; rather, it’s the velocity. Things are speeding up and we need to be ready.

Sometimes when things speed up uncomfortably, it is worth taking a few minutes to pause and refresh on some clear analytics about what is going on. Good battlefield intelligence is the foundation for an effective defense.

To that end, NRD is pleased to present the Asset Seizure Risk Cube for your review and use. Unless you are a monkey who has stumbled upon this post by pure accident, yes, Rhodie, you have seen something very much like this before. It’s the excellent and original Bracken CW2 Cube, applied as a tool to evaluating asset capture risks under conditions of socialism.

The ASR Cube (full PDF here) has three axes: Read the rest of this entry »

Advice for the Young Rhodie

raf-pilots-no-29-no-616-squardon-1940One of the more plaintive and persuasive comments to date on NRD came from reader “Dan III”, responding to my post a while ago on asset allocation in Obama’s America. In so many words, Dan III suggested that a post more responsive to the average American’s circumstances would be more useful than the one I had written.

More than 90% of the comments I’ve moderated on NRD have been very welcome and I think about all of them – thank you, readers. Since Dan III’s comment, I’ve been thinking about what advice I’d give to Rhodies starting from, or working from, or returning to a lower asset base. Sometimes those will be people starting out, and other times people starting over. Please realize that this post applies to a wide range of people, although it will be framed as advice for the “Young Rhodie”.

Some of this advice will be conventional wisdom, and some unconventional. What was good advice until the post-1945 era generally remains valid. What worked well in the receding age of postwar American abundance is generally of diminishing usefulness as we look ahead. Some of the rules that worked well until recently are, I think, changing pretty quickly because without ordered liberty and the rule of law, the Socialist Regime is creating a new playing field where old behaviors will actually be counterproductive. Status Report: Gardens & Localism

grant_wood_plows_w

I want to make a short, appreciative post update for readers. NRD’s first month was a completely runaway success compared to what I had expected, thanks to you. Although traffic has sometimes been very large and many have signed up to follow the site, NRD is not and will not be about traffic for traffic’s sake. NRD is about making contributions to the American Resistance and helping the Rhodie Remnant thrive. NRD is always going to be respectful of your time, so when I don’t have something to add that I expect will be worth your time, the site will be quiet for a while.

I believe Mr. DeWitt should practice what he writes about, so to speak, and I have been doing that. In the main, three Real World things have been diverting time that would otherwise go to NRD. Read the rest of this entry »

Make This Your Finest Hour

raf squadron scramble

This picture inspires me and evokes deep respect. It’s 601 Squadron RAF Fighter Command scrambling in 1941. In 1940-41, all across south-east England, men from all over the English-speaking world (along with some who had escaped occupied Europe) threw themselves into battle against a national socialist dictatorship that wanted to destroy our entire civilization. They sortied again and again, splashing bomber after bomber, getting shot down and going up again, and never giving in. The invasion never came. Their sceptred isle stayed free.

The odds were long, and the stakes infinite. What these men were doing, and the risks they were taking, mattered. And they knew it. Because the odds were so long, and because life expectancy for a fighter pilot was so short, these men could and did live and fight and die like they had nothing to lose.

We know how it turned out. These kind of men, running toward their little fighters, became The Few to whom So Many Owe So Much. And 1940 entered our collective memory as The Finest Hour.

Keep these men and this picture in mind when you consider New Rhodesia and the American Resistance during the next few years. Read the rest of this entry »

Next Steps In The Regime’s War On Your Retirement Plan

uncle sam 401kRhodies, you have to read sites that annoy you, like the San Francisco Chronicle, because you can get decent intel on Regime intentions and likely upcoming offensive steps. Like any aspiring intelligence analyst, I seek to put the pieces together into a coherent whole. And because the Regime’s goals (take away the private property that allows bitter clinging to guns and religion rather than the Socialist Government) really aren’t that subtle, I didn’t need to get a summa at intelligence school to have something useful to offer on this.

Here is what is going on: today, the Brookings Institution (venerable left-wing think tank) released a white paper calling for limiting the tax deductibility of 401(k) contributions for “high earners” productive people. And Senator Harkin (venerable left wing senator) intends to introduce legislation creating “USA Retirement Plans“.

Summarized, the USA Retirement Plan would be a default-enrollment, payroll-deduction, centrally administered retirement savings program not that different from a cash balance pension plan.  The Regime would invest your funds, and pay you an annuity from your balance when you retire. Relax, you can definitely trust a huge, government-sponsored defined benefit plan to be solvent and honor its promises to you when you are old and feeble. Smile trustingly, and look at Social Security!

The Regime’s likely strategy for your retirement plan (stored wealth) is quite similar to what Mugabe has done to Anglo farms (stored wealth) in Rhodesia, and here it is: Read the rest of this entry »
